James Wilson Brackin
November 12, 1923 - December 19, 2007
James Wilson Brackin, 84, of New Holland, formerly of Kennett Square, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at Garden Spot Village, New Holland.
He was the beloved husband of Helen N. Brackin with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in Toughkenamon, he was the son of the late J. Wilson and Mary Catherine Galatha Brackin.
James was a graduate of Kennett High School, Kennett Square, PA. He was a veteran of World War II, enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1942. He served in the Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a life member of the William W. Fahey American Legion Post 491 of Kennett Square. He spent his career as a parts manager for automobile dealerships in Chester County.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Laurie A. Also surviving are two brothers, Calvin M. and his wife, Teresa of West Chester and John F.; three sisters, Melva McKee of Oxford, Mary Wayne of Downingtown and Theresa Hodson of Kennett Square. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by brothers Anthony J. Brackin and E. Eugene Brackin and a sister, Kathryn Wayne.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 22 at 11:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Kennett Square, 211 S. Broad St., Kennett Square, PA where friends and family called after 10:30 a.m.
Interment was in Oxford Cemetery.
